in a Changing World” organized by the Islamic Affairs Higher Council XIV,
10) 17-23 July 2002- Georgia (Tiflis), Conference on Interreligious
Dialogue in the Caucasus,
11) 10-11 October 2002- Azerbaijan (Baku), a meeting called “The Role of
Religion and Faith in the Society”,
12) 28-30 October 2002- Bahrain, The Tenth Muslim-Christian Dialogue,
13) 23 October 2003- Prof. Ali BARDAKOGLU, the President of the
Presidency of Religious Affairs, joined the meeting called “Religion in Turkey
and Europe; State and Religion- Motivations and Obstacles to Interreligious
Peace and Coexistence”. In this meeting, Mr. BARDAKOGLU made a speech called
“The Structure and Duties of the Presidency of ReligiousAffairs”.
14) 20-28 February 2004- Prof. Ali BARDAKOGLU, the President of the
Presidency of Religious Affairs went to the United States in order to join the
meetings planned to be held in Washington and New York, and to take part in the
conference organized by the University of Utah, and to observe the services
offered by our Presidency in the United States. During visit, Prof. BARDAKOGLU
presented a paper titled “Moderation in Islam: The Turkish Experience; Mission
and Vision of Diyanet as Public” at the conference called “Moderation in Islam”
organized by the University of Utah.
15) 28 April – 01 May 2004- An International symposium titled “Toward the
Islamic Civilization” was held in Cairo. In this traditional symposium sponsored
and organized by the Egyptian Ministry of Awqaf (Islamic Religious Endowments),
Prof. Ali BARDAKOGLU, the President of the Presidency of Religious Affairs,
presented a paper titled “The Roots of Religious Tolerance in Our Age”, and
Assistant Prof. Mehmet GORMEZ, the vice-president of the Presidency of Religious
Affairs, presented a paper titled “Religious Tolerance Especially in the Age of
Fatih Sultan Mehmed in the Ottoman Period”.
16) 18-23 May 2004- Prof. Ali BARDAKOGLU, the President of the Presidency
of Religious Affairs, and a committee consisted of some lecturers from various
universities paid an official visit to Kirghizistan in order to observe the
religious services offered in the city of Osh, and to negotiate with the
authorities about the problems of the Divinity Faculty opened as a branch of Osh
State University, and to search out possibilities of wider cooperation with the
religious institutions on the issue of religious life and religion in
Kirghizistan, and finally, to join the symposium titled “Islam in the Central
Asia”. During this official visit, Prof. Ali BARDAKOĞLU, the President of the
Presidency of Religious Affairs, had also negotiated with the religious leaders
of Central Asian Turkish Republics.
17) 24 May 2004- Prof. Ali BARDAKOGLU, the President of the Presidency of
Religious Affairs, joined the meeting titled “A Peaceful Coexistence on the
Golden Bridge” organized by the UNESCO National Committee. Prof. BARDAKOGLU, in
this meeting, made a speech titled “To Live Together in Peace”.
18) 18-22 June 2004- Prof. Ali BARDAKOGLU, the President of the
Presidency of Religious Affairs, alongwith a committee paid an official visit to
Germany in order to join the conference titled “Interreligious Dialogue with
Europe – The Roots of Permanent Peace”, and to negotiate with the authorities of
various institutions. In this conference, Prof. BARDAKOGLU presented a paper
titled “The possibility of Coming Together in a Set of Common Values”.
19) 3 July 2004- Prof. Ali BARDAKOGLU, the President of the Presidency of
Religious Affairs, have been invited to a symposium titled “ Religion and Modern
Society from the Turkish and German points of View” organized in Germany. Prof.
BARDAKOGLU has sent a paper titled “Islam and Freedom of Religion: Turkish
Experience and the Vision of the Presidency of Religious Affairs” took part in a
session named “The Organization of State and Religion in Turkey and Germany”.
20) 5-7 Sebtember 2004- Prof. Ali BARDAKOGLU, the President of the
Presidency of Religious Affairs, alonwith a committee joined the meeting titled
“Freedom of Religion in Christianity and Islam” organized by Catholic Academy
Berlin and Protestant Academy Berlin in Berlin. In this meeting, Prof BARDAKOGLU
presented a paper titled “Achieving Freedom through Religion: Turkish Experience”.
