The essential duties of the angels are to worship God; fulfilling whatever He orders them. The angels have been categorized into various groups according to their duties.
The angels have been mentioned in different names regarding to their duties. Four of them are archangels; Gabriel (Jabrâîl}, Michael {Mikâîl}, Seraph (İsrâfîl), and Azrael (Azrâîl).
The known other angels are:
Munkar-Nakîr (the angels who are employed with interrogation in the grave), Kirâman Katibîn, Hafaza (the recorder scribe of every actions of human being), Hamala-i ‘Arsh (the angels who carry the ‘Arsh), Khazin (the angels whose duty is to be guardian in Jannat and Jahannam), Zabânî and Mâlik (the angels on duty in Jahannam), Rıdwân (the archangels employed in Paradise), Muqarrabûn and ‘Illiyyûn (the angels who are so close to God and have high rank before Him). |
