Condemning the decision of republishing the caricatures that include insults towards the Prophet Muhammad (saw), the President of Religious Affairs Erbaş said, “This decision has been an indicator of the rising unreasonable and hostile attitude.”

The President of Religious Affairs Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş has strongly condemned the French comic magazine Charlie Hebdo’s decision to republish the caricature that include insults towards Prophet Muhammad (saw).

The President of Religious Affairs Erbaş has stated in the post from his personal social media accounts that the decision of Charlie Hebdo is an indicator of the rising unreasonable and hostile attitude.

The President Erbaş has mentioned in the post from his social media accounts as follows:

“The decision of Charlie Hebdo to republish the caricature which include opprobrious insults towards our beloved Prophet Muhammad (saw) and the religion of Islam in France has been an indicator of the rising unreasonable and hostile attitude.

Insulting our sacred by publishing caricatures that offend Muslims is a provocative act that aims to increase anger and hatred and an impact that damages the social peace. This decision cannot be justified by freedom of press and freedom of speech.

I am strongly condemning this hostile attitude that was displayed with such morbid mindset.”
