We are having the joy of reaching another Eid al-Adha which is one of the unique periods of time gifted by Allah for His servants as source of joy and happiness.
Eids are days of unity, togetherness, sharing, solidarity and compassion that bring us closer to our creation and strengthen our ties of love and brotherhood.
Qurban means being close to our Lord, to each other, to the right and truth, and to the goodness.
We should therefore consider these sacred periods of time as opportunity to come together with our family and relatives, and to become the cause of happiness for the orphan, the poor, the sick, and the abandoned who are in need of love and compassion.
Qurban and eid are great blessings and worships that consolidate our togetherness and brotherhood as a nation just when we feel the need for solidarity and interdependence more than ever nowadays.
Eids, on the other hand, become meaningful only when all humanity is happy. For this reason, it is an important duty of ours to work hard for the wellbeing of the world and all humanity to enjoy the eid while the world is surrounded by hunger, poverty, oppression and violence today.
With these thoughts and feelings, I, from Mecca the city of the revelation, wish a happy Eid al-Adha for all our pilgrims gathered for waqfa at Mount Arafat, our noble nation and all Muslims brothers/sisters on earth, and I pray Allah Almighty that the Eid al-Adha turns into an opportunity to build a world prevailed by peace, happiness, and welfare.
