Coming together with the students who will be sent abroad for postgraduate education, the President of Religious Affairs Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş said, “Without information, wisdom, scholarship, and knowledge and if we cannot acquire the true religious information, then we cannot provide religious service. Religious service should be provided only with correct religious information.”
President of Religious Affairs Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş came together with the students who will be sent abroad for postgraduate education with the support of Ministry of National Education.
President of Religious Affairs Ali Erbaş had breakfast with the students within the framework of the ‘Information Workshop’ organized by General Directorate of Foreign Relations and gave a speech at this breakfast, in his speech he expressed his thanks to the Minister of National Education Ziya Selçuk and to General Director of Abroad Education Ahmet Emre Bilgili and General Director of Life-Long Learning Yusuf Büyük, who attended the workshop, for their support..
President Erbaş said, “We always need to recite and try to understand the meaning of this verse. ‘Are those who know equal to those who do not know?’ We are trying to realize this important activity in order to increase the number of our people who know, to increase the number of the specialists in special areas, and to make it possible that our Presidency of Religious Affairs can benefit from each of them to the utmost” by expressing that the students are going to be commissioned in various capacity within the body of the Presidency of Religious Affairs after their education abroad.
Making the evaluation that the Presidency of Religious Affairs also a center which produces information, along with all its activities, President Erbaş stated the followings, “Without information, wisdom, scholarship, and knowledge and if we cannot acquire the true religious information, then we cannot provide religious service. Religious service should be provided only with correct religious information. You all received education at different faculties, your teachers equipped you with the correct religious information as much as possible and gave education to you with them. After this point, Insha’Allah you are going to develop yourselves further.”
President Erbaş reminded that the Holy Qur’an commands, “And that there is not for man except that [good] for which he strives” and gave the recommendation of, “Let us value our time in the best way so that we can strive to perform perfectly, learn foreign languages, study our subject very well, and come back to home in this way.”
“By following the path of the scholars, you will educate yourselves in the most beautiful way”
Pointing out the fact that the World is in a continuous development and change President Erbaş continued his words as follows:
“There is need for new information and updates in every field. As you all know, in religion we have constant and variable information. Speaking off the constant information in religion, we know that there will be no update for sure. On the other hand, the variable information is constantly being developed as the life changes and also as the World changes. We need to educate ourselves according to these changes and come up with solutions about them. Who are going to come up with these solutions? These solutions are going to be produced by scholars. By following the path of the scholars, you will educate yourselves in the most beautiful way.”
By recommending the students to read about the lives of the exemplary people and Islamic scholars, President Erbaş came to the end of his speech with this dua, “Oh My Allah, may you simplify my work, may you not make it hard for me, and may you destine it that our brothers complete their studies auspiciously.”
Chairman of High Board of Religious Affairs Dr. Ekrem Keleş, Vice President of Religious Affairs Dr. Selim Argun, and General Director of Foreign Relations Erdal Atalay also attended the opening ceremony of the workshop that will last two days.
