The President of Religious Affairs Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş announced that the Presidency of Religious Affairs is going to organize a national symposium titled “The Great Hagia Sophia Mosque Symposium” within the Mosques and Religious Officials Week
The Presidency of Religious Affairs is going to organize a national symposium titled “The Great Hagia Sophia Mosque Symposium” within the Mosques and Religious Officials Week.
The symposium, which was announced by means of the social media accounts of the President of Religious Affairs Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş, aims to enlighten the history of the Great Hagia Sophia Mosque and the changes that have been witnessed by it, to contribute to the promotion of the architecture and the cultural and artistic works that are present within the body of the mosque, and to contribute to raising awareness on this issue by identifying the place and the importance of the mosque in Islamic civilization.
The ones, who want to participate in the symposium which is going to be held in the first week of October by the General Directorate of Religious Services for re-opening of the Great Hagia Sophia Mosque for worship, may submit their presentation summaries until the date of 28 August 2020. The presentations that are accepted are going to be announced on 4 September 2020. The persons who are permitted to participate in the symposium will have submitted their presentation texts until the date of 25 September 2020.
The conditions to participate
The conditions for the presentations to be accepted for participation in the symposium, which is going to be held on the subject of the Great Hagia Sophia Mosque that is the symbol of great belief, civilization, morals, and justice for Muslims, are that they are scientific and authentic, that the presentation summaries explain the subject in a nutshell with 300-400 words, that the summaries are e-mailed to email@example.com e-mail address, faxed to 0312 284 55 25 numbered phone line, or posted to the Presidency of Religious Affairs by using accession form, and that the presentation texts are between 4,000 and 7,000 words. In addition, the duration of presentations will be limited to 20 minutes in the sessions of the symposium.
The titles of the symposium
The symposium is going to be held in İstanbul in four sessions and the subjects of “The History of the Hagia Sophia (Its Construction and Development)”, “The Hagia Sophia from the Perspective of Science and Worship History”, “The Hagia Sophia with its Architectural and Artistic Dimension”, and “The Place of the Great Hagia Sophia Mosque in Turk-Islam Civilization” are going to be addressed in the symposium.
