Having received the Head of EU Delegation to Turkey Meyer Landrut, the President of Religious Affairs Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş reminded the attacks which have been executed against the mosques in the West and said “It does not matter which faith’s places of worship they are. I think that all kinds of efforts should definitely be performed to prevent these attacks.”
The President of Religious Affairs Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş received the Head of European Union Delegation to Turkey Meyer Landrut.
The President of Religious Affairs Erbaş expressed that Landrut had an important position and duty and said “As the Presidency of Religious Affairs, our cooperation in various fields has been continuing in the states of European Union for 40 years. In this respect, our meeting with you shall lead to more beautiful developments with respect to the quality of our studies, Insha Allah.”
Referring to the importance of people living together in peace, the President Erbaş used expressions as, “Both with the legacy of our civilization and as required by our faith, we are aware of the fact that there is always benevolence in unison and there is always evil in separation.”
Stating the fact that all of the faiths had always advised the unity and solidarity to people in their own principles and said that if people obeyed these messages of their own faiths, the peace would be established in the World and the enmity would be eliminated.
“We have been working with every ounce of our powers in order for people to live in peace”
Stating that it is considered in Islam that if any one takes a life, it will be as if he killed all of humanity and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people, the President Erbaş talked as, “As the members of Islam whose name is peace, we have been working with every ounce of our powers in order for people to live in peace both in the places we live in and all over the world. We provide training here to those who are in the Presidency of Religious Affairs and to the hodjas whom we sent abroad. We tell them that as our beloved Prophet Muhammad (saw) described, “A Muslim is one whose hand and tongue are trusted” that is, other people trust the hand and tongue of a Muslim. We provide a long training for them to both live this themselves and to materialize this idea where they are. We want them to materialize the best example of the experience of coexisting together with that legacy that comes from the history regardless of their faiths, races, sects and thoughts. It has been proven by the history that when this philosophy is put forward, the World is always in peace. In every age when the philosophy of considering the differences as richness was neglected, the world was always dragged into unrest.”
Underlining that they, as the Presidency of Religious Affairs, were always fighting against the terrorist organizations that had emerged by using the name of Islam, the President Erbaş recorded that those who desired for the chaos, wars and terror activities to increase in the World and those who strived for this purpose needed to be prevented.
Reminding that the Muslims who lived in Europe were in need of freedom of belief and worship, the President Erbaş continued his remarks as follows:
“People have five fundamental rights that are very important. We think that these five rights are required to be safeguarded wherever those people live. These are rights to life, belief, property, generation and mind. One of the most significant aspects of our faith is to safeguard these freedoms of the people. It is essential to prevent the things that shall damage these five freedoms. We believe that safeguarding these rights of all of the people regardless of their beliefs and race in places where we live together facilitates the paths to the peace. At this point, the places of worship are very important, and especially in the West, there are occasionally attacks being executed against the places of worship of the Muslims. It does not matter which faith’s places of worship they are, I think that all kinds of efforts should definitely be performed to prevent and eliminate these attacks. We must safeguard these very important rights of the people.”
Head of EU Delegation to Turkey Landrut

When we look at the history, we can observe that the exchange of views and ideas between different religions and races is beneficial. But the conflicts, quarrels and hate never brought anything that is positive to anyone.”
