A “Memorandum of Understanding in the Field of Religious Services” was concluded between the Presidency of Religious Affairs and the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan.

Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş, the President of Religious Affairs, and Nauryzbai Taganuly Otpenov, the President of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan, were present at the ceremony that was held at the Conference Hall of the Presidency.

Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş, the President of Religious Affairs, delivered a speech at the ceremony and expressed his satisfaction with the deep-rooted friendly relations and collaboration between the Presidency of Religious Affairs and the Presidency of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan as follows: “May the Almighty Allah (swt) let this togetherness increasingly continue in the future.”

Saying, “Our cognates and co-religionists who live in Kazakhstan are very valuable for us,” the President of Religious Affairs Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş added, “I would like to utter once again that we stand by them all the time. We are going to discuss the opportunities of collaboration against the problems that are faced by Muslims during these tough times.”

Drawing attention to the fact that Muslims have been experiencing difficult times, Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş, the President of Religious Affairs, said: “Our most sacred values are defamed. Islam, the religion of peace, is tried to be considered equal to terrorism and extremism. Unfortunately, the Islamic world cannot unite against these attacks. The hostile attitudes against Turkey, which exerts a sincere effort on fundamental issues that concerns the Islamic world, are also evident.”

“We should not give any chance to terrorist organizations whose understanding of Islam does not match with ours”

Emphasizing the need to be careful about FETO and similar terrorist organizations and radical movements, President Erbaş said: “We should not give chance to these terrorist organizations and radical movements, whose understanding of Islam does not match with ours and the realities of our region, to find themselves even a small place in Kazakhstan or Turkey. You and the regional muftis are to undertake a great responsibility in that regard.”

President Erbaş said that they witnessed the fact that wrong religious perceptions turned into deviant ideologies by using the most fundamental values of Islam and that these values are being abused by terrorist organizations.

Stating “FETO, which abused the pure concepts and values of Islam, has corrupted the worlds of belief, emotion, and mind of the young people by hiding its true face and intention behind the understanding of self-defensive deception,” Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş, the President of Religious Affairs, continued:

“We all should fight and work in the way of the Holy Qur’an and the sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (saw) until benevolence dominates the world by adopting the spirit and ambition to work of our very old members of ulama who were educated at the Fergana Valley, one of the most important geographies of the Islamic civilization.”

Expressing that the subject of religious education is one of the indispensable principles of our civilization, Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş, the President of Religious Affairs, stated that the Presidency of Religious Affairs is going to continue to give support for the religious education of Kazakh students.

Uttering that the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan undertakes a great responsibility in Kazakhstan, President Erbaş said: “You have gone through tough times. How nice it is that the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan has become an institution that can reach our brothers and sisters, who live even in the furthest places of Kazakhstan, that can carry out its activities independently and that have the confidence to the extent of not giving credit to the pressure. It is a source of happiness for us to be able to give support to this.”

President Erbaş wished that the memorandum of understanding that was concluded is going to yield good results.

Nauryzbai Taganuly Otpenov, the President of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan, on the other hand, expressed his thanks to President Erbaş for receiving them.

Wishing that the memorandum of understanding that was concluded is going to yield good results for Kazakhstan and Turkey, Otpenov said, “We welcomed your speech that was delivered recently at our international conference titled “Independent Kazakhstan and the Islamic Values” with happiness. I would like to thank you again for this.”

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selim Argun, the Vice President of Religious Affairs, and Erdal Atalay, the General Director of Foreign Relations, were also present at the reception.
