Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş, the President of Religious Affairs, visited the hard-of-hearing and the visually-impaired students, who receive education at the Youth Center of Çankaya Mufti’s Office, on the occasion of December 3, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

Visiting the classrooms where the disabled students are educated at the youth center, Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş, the President of Religious Affairs, had a conversation with them, congratulated their International Day of Persons with Disabilities, December 3, and wished them success.

President Erbaş presented gifts to the students and expressed the following afterwards, “I would like to congratulate December 3, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities of all of our disabled brothers and sisters. Now we are at the Youth Center of Çankaya Mufti’s Office. Our brothers and sisters who are visually impaired and hard of hearing are educated here. They learn about both the Holy Qur’an and fundamental religious information.”

Expressing that the teachers, who are commissioned at the Qur’an courses for the disabled, are given special training by the Presidency of Religious Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş, the President of Religious Affairs, continued, “We have teachers whom we educate to teach and train the students at these classes. We already taught them sign language for the hard-of-hearing. Our teachers who educate the visually-impaired students learned how to teach children utilizing the Braille alphabet. Many of our brothers and sisters, both the visually-impaired and the hard-of-hearing, are trying to learn Islam with the support of our teachers.”

President Erbaş expressed that the Presidency of Religious Affairs continues its services for the disabled citizens increasingly and said the following:

“InshaAllah, we are going to strive for meeting the needs of our brothers and sisters more. The Presidency of Religious Affairs opens Qur’an courses and arranges classrooms for the hard-of-hearing, the visually-impaired, and the physically-impaired citizens across Turkey. We are always with them. And we are going to continue to do so. Because we know that the disability of the heart is the real obstacle in life. Being hard of hearing, visually impaired or unable to walk, these are not the real obstacles. At this point, we are trying to help all of our brothers and sisters and support them. InshaAllah, we are also going to be with our brothers and sisters all the time by exerting great effort in the future just like we have done so far.”
